“#BevavingBadly people at @Target make the shoe section look like a tornado that just passed through,” said the tweet to read.

The consumer also posted another photo showing several used socks and open shoe boxes thrown haphazardly in the same hallway.

A customer service representative responded to the tweet saying, “This is definitely not how we want our shelves to be.”

“I want to make sure the store is notified as quickly as possible. Send us a DM with your full name, email address and store location so we can contact the store. I will await your response.”

However, consumers quickly realized that the retailer was not to blame.

“Stacie, this is less about Target and more about the individuals ruining everything for the rest of us,” he wrote.

Several consumers have noticed that retailers like Target have reduced staffing in stores.

Following the effects of the pandemic, retailers prioritized the implementation of self-checkout machines, which in turn reduced the number of employees needed in stores.

For consumers, staff shortages have led to poorly maintained stores and long checkout lines.

Customers said new anti-theft measures are ruining their in-person shopping experience.

BLOCKED

Target has also been criticized for locking its items behind plexiglass.

The controversial anti-theft measure left customers angry at the inconvenience.

In August 2024, Bloomberg published an article about how lockdowns and Target, CVS and other retailers “backfired.”

One angry customer claimed that during his last visit to Target, he only bought three items because the rest were locked in boxes.

He also stated that there were only two cash registers open.

“Tell me something that I, as a frustrated potential customer, didn’t already know,” the angry shopper wrote on Facebook.

“I was at Target this week for the first time in many months. I was left with only three items because not only were others locked, but only two cashiers were open,” he continued.

“So the rest of the cart was left in an open aisle for an understaffed store to restock.”

In June 2024, another shopper urged the retailer to hire more staff after people were left waiting for service.

Meanwhile, Target, Costco and Walmart struggle to recover days after the Wall Street bloodbath, as shoppers worry about the impact on stores.

And consumers praised a viral kitchen essential that flew off the shelves of a retail store.
