A WOMAN decided to liven up her morning routine by buying a lottery ticket with her cup of coffee.

Maria Acevedo Valdez walked into a Mobil gas station in Andover, Massachusettsabout 30 minutes north of Boston, and opted to add a $20 instant game to his breakfast.

For Valdez, the last-minute decision turned into a $1 million prize.

Valdez, a resident of Lawrence, Massachusetts, cashed in his ticket on December 4, 2023, and decided to receive his winnings as a one-time payment.

She took home $650,000 after taxes.

Valdez told the Massachusetts State Lottery that she was “grateful and blessed” with her prize.

She told the commission she plans to use the money to help her family.

The Mobil gas station where Valdez purchased the ticket will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

Meanwhile, more than 600 miles south of Boston, two lucky lottery winners in Maryland are running out of time to deliver their winning tickets.

The Fantasy 5 ticket worth US$119,854 was drawn on January 22 this year.

The winner matched all five balls – 12, 19, 20, 30 and 33 to win the prize.

The player will have until July 20, 2024 to withdraw the prize.
