A LUCKY shopper shared how he struck gold while rummaging through the $2 box at his local thrift store.

The saver said he spotted the cool-looking coin – set in a metal base and surrounded by blue stones – and grabbed it without thinking.

The gold coin turned out to be an 1885 $5 Liberty Head – made of real gold.

The incredibly rare find could be worth $660 in circulated condition and more than $15,000 in mint condition, according to TheCoolDown. with.

The post included a photo of the shiny gold coin and chain with an image of a bust on one side and an eagle on the other.

“Originally it was on a cheap ribbon necklace, I upgraded to a 14k chain I found on the floor haha,” they he wrote in the Thrift Store Hauls thread (r/thriftstorehauls).

The Redditor’s luck led some commenters to say she had the Midas Touch of economic.

“And you found the gold chain on the floor?? Okay Midas. Very Cool piece!” commented one person.

“So cool!!! I would be tempted to sell it, but I would have to keep it and use it all the time,” wrote a second person.

“This is one of my favorite finds and it has always been a dream of mine to have a real gold coin necklace,” they said. he responded.

“You have all the luck! You find a gold chain on the ground and then buy a real gold coin pendant for $2? Go buy a lottery ticket,” another user commented.

“This is the kind of rare find that will keep us shopping thriftily forever,” added another.

Other buyers who love buying used described how fun it can be to score a good find.

Reddit user El-In-Hell showed off a designer bag she bought well below market value on a recent trip to a thrift store.

“[I’m] kind of going crazy with luck,” the saver wrote on publish.

She revealed she paid $8 for the light pink clutch with black buttons that she proudly displayed in the image attached to the post.

The lucky lady later discovered that the little Gucci tag on the outside of the bag was legit — and the bag could be worth a lot more than she paid.

And another Redditor (u/am_ireallyhere) made a splash with a different designer bag that they also stole.

She posted an image of an elegant brown leather bag with white stitching details and large buckles.

“My proudest economy, an authentic Chloe Edith bag for about $20,” she said.

Other savers said they were impressed by the thrifty purchase, but some doubted it was real.

“Some of the stitching looks off, and although it’s a little blurry, the Chloe print on the front doesn’t look like the right font,” one person commented.

“Sorry to say, but this is not authentic,” said another. “Chloe doesn’t use strings and paper tags. Cool, though!
