With nearly 900 locations across 32 U.S. states, Save A Lot has become a trusted grocery store for shoppers.

In West Allis, a suburb of Milwaukee, there was just one outlet that offered groceries at low prices, leaving customers sad to see it disappear.

On Wednesday, local media reported that the store announced it would close on May 20 via signs posted on the door.

Until Save A Lot closes its doors for good, it will offer up to 30% off some items.

Local residents say they liked the outlet for its convenient location and low-priced products.

For customer Betsey Duxbury, only Aldi can offer competitive savings, which Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Another shopper said she noticed signs the store wasn’t doing well before the closure was announced.

“We felt like they were going to close because sometimes they don’t have food on the shelves,” Mary Assad told the local newspaper.

“They are not supplied.

“I wish they wouldn’t close. It’s a good store.”

Assad also said she would have to start going to Aldi to buy essential items.

The store owners released a statement after the closure was announced.

“We recognize the impact this closure will have on the local community and remain committed to our customers, who we encourage to visit us at our other stores in Milwaukee,” they told the ABC affiliate. WISN.

The closest Save A Lot for customers is a 16-minute drive away in Milwaukee proper.

  • Dollar Tree bosses have announced that 600 Family Dollar stores will close this year. But the strikes don’t stop there, as another 370 points of sale are expected to close.
  • About 30 Dollar Tree stores will also close.
  • Best Buy bosses have confirmed 24 outlets will close during the company’s 2024 fiscal year.

OTHER CLOSINGS

Customers were left stunned when another Save A Lot closed after nine years in business.

And a trusted grocer abruptly announced a closure this week, leaving rival Aldi with the opportunity to move.

In August, Save A Lot transitioned from a supermarket operator to a licensed wholesaler.

The brand was purchased by Leevers Supermarket and is now employee owned and operated.

“As we have made a strategic shift to become a licensed wholesaler, it is clear that our long-term growth momentum must be rooted in the success of our strong network of retail partners,” said Leon Bergmann, CEO of Save A Lot, in a statement .
