A grocery store has confirmed it will close for good after customers noticed frightening signs of decline.
Save A Lot on the outskirts of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, made the shocking closing announcement with an abrupt sign on its door.
With nearly 900 locations across 32 U.S. states, Save A Lot has become a trusted grocery store for shoppers.
In West Allis, a suburb of Milwaukee, there was just one outlet that offered groceries at low prices, leaving customers sad to see it disappear.
On Wednesday, local media reported that the store announced it would close on May 20 via signs posted on the door.
Until Save A Lot closes its doors for good, it will offer up to 30% off some items.
Local residents say they liked the outlet for its convenient location and low-priced products.
For customer Betsey Duxbury, only Aldi can offer competitive savings, which Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
Another shopper said she noticed signs the store wasn’t doing well before the closure was announced.
“We felt like they were going to close because sometimes they don’t have food on the shelves,” Mary Assad told the local newspaper.
“They are not supplied.
“I wish they wouldn’t close. It’s a good store.”
Assad also said she would have to start going to Aldi to buy essential items.
The store owners released a statement after the closure was announced.
“We recognize the impact this closure will have on the local community and remain committed to our customers, who we encourage to visit us at our other stores in Milwaukee,” they told the ABC affiliate. WISN.
The closest Save A Lot for customers is a 16-minute drive away in Milwaukee proper.
