BURGER KING confirmed that it continues to make important updates.

The fast food chain announced earlier this week that it would invest heavily in updating the look and feel of most of its more than 6,600 U.S. restaurants over the next few years.

An effort is being made by Burger King executives to “accelerate the modernization” of the brand, according to a Press release.

At least $300 million is being invested in the changes, including a new “modern look” for the interior and exterior designs of Burger King locations.

It’s known as Sizzle design, a “reimagined” layout and experience that allows for “flexibility” between team members and customers.

Sizzle focuses more on digital and mobile order pickup, along with the drive-thru experience, rather than the dining area.

The dining area will still receive updates.

The Sizzle update and technology, along with new kitchen equipment, have also been noted in what the brand calls Royal Reset 2.0.

This builds on the original 2022 Royal Reset plan and the Reclaim the Flame initiative, which saw investments of US$250 million and US$500 million respectively.

Both the first Royal Reset and Reclaim the Flame had similar efforts to update and improve Burger King restaurants.

In January, the chain also announced that it would acquire Carrols, its largest franchisee in the United States.

The deal was worth an enterprise value of about $1 billion and would further help remodel at least 600 of the 1,000 Burger King stores acquired.

Using Carrols’ portfolio, Burger King plans to fully modernize its operations by 2028.

MOTIVATED BY MODERNITY

Royal Reset 2.0 also offers monetary incentives to high-performing Burger King locations for renovations and upgrades.

The incentive aims to enable an additional 1,100 restaurant renovations by the 2028 target.

At the end of the upgrades, Burger King says about 85% to 90% of its locations in and outside of America should be upgraded.

The brand also confirmed that it will not invest in new renovations after the completion of the Royal Reset 2.0 plan in the coming years.

Franchisees have until October 31st to join the Royal Reset 2.0 incentive.

CUSTOMERS FIRST

Tom Curtis, president of Burger King North America, said the goal was to “exceed customers’ expectations.”

“We are committed to offering our guests the best experience in all of our restaurants and that includes a modern, exciting restaurant image and a digital experience that exceeds their expectations,” Curtis said in the release.

“We are working closely with our franchisees to transform the presence of our restaurants across the country and regain our position as a leader in the QSR industry.”
