“With mixed emotions, we announce the closing of our beloved RadioShack store in Baraboo,” he wrote store owners PJ and Nicole Kruschel.

The Wisconsin-based company’s owners told customers they had been looking for a new owner for the past eight months but had been unable to find anyone.

“Serving the Baraboo Community for the past nine years has been an honor, and although this chapter is closing, we are excited about the new opportunities that lie ahead,” the Kruschels wrote.

Hoping to get rid of its last remaining merchandise, Wisconsin RadioShack announced its final sale from April 29th to June 1st.

Customers can purchase all products for 20% to 50% off, with sales increasing progressively as the weeks go by.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to all of our loyal customers over the years,” they continued.

“Your support has been invaluable and we are immensely grateful for the relationships we have built in the Baraboo community.”

All sales will be final, but repairs will still be performed at the company’s Lake Delton facility.

“We are committed to ensuring your needs are seamlessly met during this transition.”

The heart of the company Facebook post received dozens of comments from current and former customers expressing their sadness at the business’ closure.

“This breaks my heart…always going the extra mile for customers,” one person wrote.

“Thank you for the exceptional service you have provided over the past few years,” wrote another person. “You will be greatly missed.”

A third wrote: “Of course I hate to see another Radio Shack bites the dust. They are definitely on the endangered species list!”

A NEW SONG

At its peak, RadioShack had 8,000 stores worldwide

Its wide range of inventory, particularly computer and audio parts, has earned the retailer a cult status among electronics fans.

However, nearly all of its remaining U.S. stores closed when then-owner General Wireless filed for bankruptcy in 2017.

Since 1998, majority owner Unicomer Group has operated RadioShack franchises in South America, Central America and the Caribbean.

“We want to continue to develop the business, in as many territories as possible,” the company said in a statement at the time.

RadioShack aimed to create new support plans for operations and reach customers with a variety of products at the best prices.

Competitor of RadioShack, Best Buy also faced difficult times throughout its historyclosing 17 locations last year.

“These changes are necessary to alleviate the pressures of a changing world,” Best Buy CEO Corie Barry said during a 2023 earnings call.
