Chili’s BELOVED LOCATION will close its doors for good in a matter of days, breaking the hearts of its customers.
The manager of the restaurant in South Portland, Maine — about 60 miles south of Augusta — revealed it would close on May 7.
No other details, such as the reason for the closure, were provided.
The closure will affect about 35 employees and it is unclear whether they have had the opportunity to be transferred to another location, the Bangor Daily News.
Employees were informed of the closure earlier this week, according to the ABC affiliate WMTW-TV.
The only other Chili’s Grill & Bar location in Maine is in Bangor — about 130 miles away.
Other nearby locations include Dover and Seabrook in New Hampshire.
News of the closure hit fans hard, writing heartfelt messages on Facebook.
“We have always had a Cool experience here,” one person wrote. “Sad to see it go.”
“Nooooo,” wrote another person.
“I’m crying!” wrote a third person.
O News comes as a Chili’s in Irvine, California, closed just a few weeks ago.
Customers were informed of the closure via a note taped to the restaurant’s door.
The restaurant’s lease expired in 2020, but an agreement between employers resulted in temporary extensions that allowed the establishment to remain open.
However, its doors soon closed permanently.
Another Chili’s in Porto ArthurTexas — about 80 miles east of Houston — left customers mourning after its closure was announced.
The reason for the closure was not revealed, but the location’s manager reportedly told the CBS affiliate KFDM-TV that it would help your team.
“We have to go one last time,” one person wrote afterward News of the closure reached social media.
Another person said they were sad to lose one of their favorite restaurants.
“Hate to hear that, it was good food,” one person wrote.

Meanwhile, Texas foodies also had to say goodbye to their beloved Applebee’s in Waco.
The restaurant closed its doors on April 29 with a note apologizing to its loyal customers.
“We regret any inconvenience this has caused our valued guests,” the note read.
The note also gave suggestions for other Applebee’s locations people could visit.
Restaurant Closings in 2024
BOSSes of major restaurant chains have announced a series of restaurant closures. The US Sun compiled a list of those affected by the network.

- Frisch’s Big Boy: Restaurant bosses have confirmed the closure of a restaurant in Covington, Kentucky.
- Two dolars: Four restaurants in Ohio are set to close.
- Pepper: A restaurant in Port Arthur, Texas, has closed permanently. Establishments in Irvine, California, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Fort Wayne, Indiana, also closed.
- Friendly: Bosses have confirmed that an establishment in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, will close.
- Pizza Hut: A restaurant in Glen Falls, New York, closed at the end of March.
- Danny: Two restaurants in Boise and Nampa, Idaho, have closed. The chain’s burger joint in Oakland, California, closed earlier this year after more than 50 years due to fears of crime.
- In and out: An In-N-Out restaurant in Oakland has closed due to crime concerns.
The photos were shared on social mediashowing signs being removed from the restaurant.
I went there often with my grandparents, I go [sic] I miss it,” wrote one person on Facebook. “This was our place.”
“They really had great recipes and foods,” another person wrote.
A third wrote: “Used to be a great place to go.”
