POWERBALL PAYMENT

The jackpot amounts to just under $215 million, but the cash value is $100.1 million, according to Powerball officials.

The winner will be able to choose between paying an annuity of US$214.9 million or a one-time payment of US$100.1 million.

Both prize options are pre-tax.

If the winner chooses the annuity option, they will receive an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.

In addition to the jackpot won with a single ticket, there are eight other ways to win.

Biggest Powerball Winners

The most recent draw had 385,220 winning tickets across the country.

Lottery officials said a ticket in Idaho matched all five white balls and increased its winnings from $1 million to $2 million because the Power Play feature was purchased for an extra dollar.

Seven tickets won prizes of US$100,000.

Six tickets won prizes of US$50,000.

FLORIDA FUN

Florida Lottery Data reveals that this is the 12th time the Powerball jackpot has had a winner in Florida, dating back to when the game became available in the Sunshine State in 2009.

Five winning tickets were sold at a Publix supermarket.

All but one chose the cash option.

The only ticket, from the May 25, 2013 draw, expired without a winner being shown. The jackpot was worth $50,000,000.

A Powerball prize in North Carolina is worth $200,000, but it will expire soon.

Meanwhile, a $500,000 Powerball prize went unclaimed in Iowa.
