HI-CHEW candy goes from chewy to sticky with the launch of an innovative new gummy candy.
But some fans of the classic candy have posted their complaints on social media, saying they aren’t feeling the new texture.
Makers of Fruity and Chewy Candy, HI-CHEW announced the launch of an innovative new product, combining fan-favorite flavors with a new gummy texture.
But not all fans are feeling the latest concept, especially one specific flavor.
“I love everything chewy except mango,” wrote one Facebook user in one publish of the launch.
“I think they smell like cat pee or smelly armpits,” they continued.

Another user expressed a similar sentiment, saying they will “definitely take both bags” but “throw away the sleeve.”
Despite resistance to the taste, others are excited about the gummies, with some referring to them as a “game changer.”
One woman even praised them for their presumably softer texture, which will be “less harsh on your teeth.”
“Oh my God, I can help with that!” wrote one user.
“I don’t really like gummies, but I’ll try it,” said another.
“The launch of HI-CHEW Gummies and HI-CHEW Gummies Sour is an exciting next step for us in expanding our texture offerings,” said Teruhiro Kawabe, chief U.S. representative and president and CEO of Morinaga America, Inc.
“This addition to the texture offerings furthers our goal of showcasing our brand’s innovation to serve the U.S. market, and the Sweets & Snacks Expo is the perfect setting to launch it. Now, consumers with preferences for both gummies and chewable candies can delight in the world of HI-CHEW.”
Both the gummy and sour gummy variations will be available on the candy website from July this year.
The new products are scheduled to arrive at select retailers nationwide in fall 2024.
Both new variations will be available in 4.23-ounce bags for $3.29.
The price is subject to vary according to the market.
And they will be available for tasting at the 2024 Sweets & Snacks Expo, May 14-16, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
