The discount chain takes pride in the fact that items cost $1.25 and its stores sell a variety of products, from cleaning products to arts and crafts.

The Mighty Dollar store in Hickory will close on July 1, per Hickory’s Daily Log.

Bosses said they were unable to agree a new contract.

Mighty Dollar has a presence in Forest City, Gastonia, Boiling Springs, Kannapolis, Morganton, Shelby and Thomasville.

But bosses gave buyers some hope.

Regular Mighty Dollar shoppers recalled their memories of the store where they grabbed a bargain.

One customer said he walked through the store in tears when he found out about the closure.

Some posted online that the shelves inside were already starting to look empty.

Fans asked the discount chain to reconsider its decision to close the store.

US Sun approached Mighty Dollar for comment.

OTHER STORE CLOSURES

But the retailer isn’t the only discount chain to experience store closures.

Last month, a Dollar Tree store in northwest Boise, Idaho, closed for good in a move that devastated shoppers.

The thrift store had been a staple in the region for more than three decades.

Dollar Tree bosses have revealed that 600 Family Dollar stores will close.

Bosses have warned that another 370 Family Dollar outlets are also set to go to the wall.

And 30 Dollar Tree stores will close permanently in the coming years.

Bosses identified inflation and a change in consumer behavior as factors influencing the closures.

Retail experts have warned about the impact a series of closures could have on neighborhoods.

“It may be the only store that serves the entire community in this area,” said retail expert Dominick Miserandino CBS News.

Dollar stores across the country are closing and shoppers may be lining up to score bargains as prices are being slashed by up to 50%.
