The user, under the username Odd_Bolognese1486, posted to the r/ChickFilA subreddit, where people go to discuss the chain.

The employee said he worked at the chain for two years during the pandemic.

The post was an “AMA,” which stands for “ask me anything.”

In six days, the post received more than 100 comments.

A sauce-related secret explained a common customer frustration.

SAUCE PLEASE!

A fellow Reddit user asked the employee a simple question.

“Why do they always forget my ranch because of the salad?” they asked.

The question received 15 upvotes.

Although known for its chicken, Chick-Fil-A currently offers three salad options.

Each includes a packet of sauce, but none come with plain ranch.

To get ranch with salad you have to ask.

However, even customers who order ranch may find themselves without ranch after eating their meal.

The employee said it all comes down to the location of the sauces, at least locally.

“The ranch at my location was in a cooler under the counter and salad toppings, so it’s very easy to think you put something in while bagging it and then realize you never took it out of the cooler,” they said.

They added a skull emoji to the comment.

It’s unclear how common this cooler placement is, as locations can have different layouts.

Chick-Fil-A Sauces and Seasonings

Chick-Fil-A is known for its sauce options.

Their signature sauce is just one option, plus classics like Ranch, Honey Mustard and Polynesian Dressing.

The chain now sells its sauces in large bottles in supermarkets.

It also sells a variety of dressings for its salads:

  • Lemon and avocado ranch
  • Garden Herb Ranch
  • Spicy Apple Cider Vinaigrette
  • Creamy Salsa
  • Light Balsamic Vinaigrette
  • Fat-free honey mustard
  • Light Italian

For salads, you can usually order up to two packets of dressing at no extra charge, although dressing fees vary by location.
