An Aldi shopper has hit out at the company after claiming a fan-favourite snack has changed for the worse.
A customer posted his descriptive response on social media, where he received a response from the supermarket.
The upset buyer flagged the company in a tweet claiming it changed his infamous candy.
“@AldiUSA What happened to the Chocolate Peanut Butter Wafers? They used to be fairly on brand, but now they taste like sadness,” they admitted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I literally had to spit it out. Planning to throw away the box.”
Within minutes of the customer’s honest review, the company commented on a response.
“We’re sorry to hear they’re not up to par! We are not aware of any changes, but we will share your comments with our team,” the company responded.
“In the meantime, if you are not satisfied with an ALDI product for any reason, please feel free to return it for a full refund. Thank you!”
‘CHICKEN PORTE WITH BANANA’
This isn’t the first time customers have complained about an Aldi item.
Recently, the Reddit thread took off after a customer claimed that the chicken breast they had purchased from the store was already spoiled.
“I will never buy raw chicken breast from Aldi again,” they he wrote.
“Whenever I buy a large package of chicken breast in any supermarket, I cut the package and defrost only what I need.
The buyer had placed the chicken in a large ziplock bag for two days and there was now “brown and black liquid coming out of it.”
“I immediately dismissed it,” they said.
The Aldi shopper added: “This is the second time I have purchased the family pack and it will be the last.
“I still have the other half of the chicken breast in the freezer.
They taste like sadness now. I literally had to spit it out. Planning to throw away the box.
Aldi Shopper
“I’ll do the same thing in a few days to see if I get the same result, but for now I’ll go back to Trader Joe’s chicken breast.”
Although the poster included a photo of the spoiled chicken, commenters didn’t believe the claim.
“Definitely looks like frozen bananas that have been thawed. It’s even shaped like a banana. Maybe you got the wrong bag out of the freezer,” one person commented.
“Invest in a marker to label because this is bananas,” a second person wrote.
“These are defrosted bananas. While [it] It looks similar to the color of chicken when frozen, thaw it to look exactly like that. Enlarge the image, they are clearly bananas,” said another person.
“Looks like someone stole your chicken and replaced it with bananas,” said one commenter.
An Aldi customer said he was “being scammed” by the supermarket chain.
Another refused to shop at the grocery store due to its coin-lock shopping cart system, which is popular in Europe.
