Someone from Illinois is $1 million richer, but they might not know it.

The lucky player purchased his lottery ticket at Casey’s General Store #6410, located at 9701 Milwaukee Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois, 60016.

The lottery ticket yields just over $1 million, for a total of $1,000,002.

The winning numbers were drawn on May 2, 2024, and the winner has one year to claim the cash prize.

However, lottery winners who opt for the one-time payment must claim their money within 60 days of the draw date.

Anyone who redeems the prize after 60 days will only be able to receive it as an annual fee.

Another Illinois player has won an even bigger prize, but has yet to take a step forward.

A $4.1 million winning lottery ticket was purchased at the McCook BP gas station at 8222 Joliet Road in La Grange, Illinois – 13 miles southwest of downtown Chicago.

The numbers were also drawn on May 2nd, giving the winner until May 2nd next year to claim their money.

As both prizes exceed $10,000, winning players must claim the money at a claim center or by mail.

WHAT IS LOTO?

Lotto is an Illinois lottery game with three chances to become a millionaire.

Each play costs $2 and requires participants to select six numbers between one and 50.

Each play enters the selected numbers into three separate draws.

Lottery winnings: lump sum or annual fee?

Players who win big on lottery tickets often have a choice to make: lump sum or annual fee?

Both payment methods can affect how much money you receive from your prize.

Annuities are paid slowly in increments, usually over 30 years.

Lump sums are paid all at once, but in smaller amounts since taxes are withheld all at once. This means 24% of your prize goes to Uncle Sam immediately. Many states also tax earnings.

Annuities can give winners time to create the financial infrastructure needed to receive a life-changing amount of money, but lump sums have the advantage of being taxed only once.

It’s also worth considering inflation when making a choice, as payments don’t adjust to the value of a dollar. This means you will likely receive less valuable money at the end of an annuity.

Each state and game pays prizes differently, so it’s best to check with your state’s lottery to confirm payment policies. A financial advisor can also help you weigh the pros and cons of each option.

Experts have differing opinions on the possibility of take the fixed amount or take the annual fee.

The Jackpot draw has prizes ranging from $2 up to the jackpot, and the Lotto Million 1 draw and Lotto Million 2 draw have prize values of $1,000,000.

Lottery drawings are held on Monday, Thursday and Saturday nights at 9:22 pm CT.

Drawing results can be found at the Illinois Lottery websiteapp or YouTube channel.
