AN Aldi customer spotted a suspicious worm-like figure in her new jar of banana peppers.

The strange sighting reminded Aldi fans of another scandal involving bananas and chicken.

In a recent post on the Aldi subreddit on Reddit, a customer shared an image of the questionable figures on the lid of their Tuscan Garden brand banana and pepper rings.

The rim of the lid depicted had two brown figures, including one that resembled a worm.

“A new jar of banana peppers has something strange on the lid. What is that?! Do we eat it?” asked the buyer.

“I can’t tell if what’s on the edge are old peppers that have turned brown, worms or something else. I had the courage to feel it and it’s crunchy.”

Many Aldi fans suspected the unknown figures were banana pepper pieces or stems stuck in the lid during processing.

An Aldi employee said he has seen something similar happen many times.

“The packaging of things in jars is not perfect, sometimes things get stuck on the outside or in the lid before the lid is screwed on,” they wrote.

“It should be safe if the pop-up seal is intact, but assuming you haven’t checked it, you should bring it in and ask for a double refund and replacement guarantee.”

Others noted that banana peppers are highly acidic, meaning they were probably fine to consume.

“I would just eat them. Maybe rinse the lid if you want,” said one customer.

The original user explained that he had already put some banana peppers and some juice in his slow cooker with a roast before noticing the unusual brown figures.

After eating the roast, the user posted an update to the thread.

“I’m happy to report that we’re all fine after consuming what little juice and peppers were in the crock pot. Still, I threw the jar away for peace of mind!” they wrote.

CHICKEN GATE WITH BANANA

Several Redditors took the situation as an opportunity to joke about a previous Reddit debate over Aldi’s chicken breast.

An Aldi customer bought raw chicken from the grocery store and was shocked when it defrosted and “brown and black liquid” came out.

Redditors were quick to correct the Aldi shopper’s mistake, noting that the food in question was actually defrosted bananas.

The confusion over banana peppers reminded users of the banana chicken gate, leading to many amusing comments.

“Aren’t those chicken peppers?” joked one user.

Aldi return policy

Aldi has a return policy that can benefit customers who try edible products and don’t like them. It’s called the Twice as Nice Guarantee and it allows customers to try something else at no cost. The US Sun put together a short list of the rules and benefits of the policy on the retailer’s website.

  • It must be an Aldi brand product
  • Receipt is mandatory
  • Original packaging of the item is required
  • Any remaining unused portion of the food or drink must be visible
  • Meeting the requirements will result in a full refund
  • Aldi customers can also get a replacement product for their problems

“I just came to say it looks like chicken, so thanks for getting there before me,” replied another.

Even the original poster resembled the banana chicken gate.

“I was going to put something in the title about it not being chicken or bananas, but I didn’t know if people would understand!” they shared.

In related news, Aldi shoppers complain about “quality” issues and call out certain products that are “not their strong point”.

Plus, Aldi launches an Aperol Spritz for a limited time only while customers claim the store is “the best.”
