This lax return policy was considered lenient compared to other major retailers, as Costco is known for accepting old furniture, plants, and even food in exchange for a refund.

One woman even managed to get her money back for a bottle of wine she finished but didn’t like.

However, there are limitations to the policy.

A buyer recently revealed in a Costco subreddit chain a shocking return a customer tried to make.

“Someone next to me in customer service tried to return a trash can,” the Costco shopper wrote.

Among the few exceptions to Costco’s return policy is the product’s life expectancy.

The policy outlines that Costco employees can deny returns of products with a “limited life expectancy,” including items like tires or batteries.
