CHIPOTLE fans are testing a new cell phone rule on the Mexican network under the impression you’ll get bigger portions.

However, a Chipotle employee has come forward to clarify the rule.

Chipotle’s portion sizes have been a topic of contention among fast food enthusiasts, with many feeling as if the chain skimped on its spoons.

Several TikTok users recorded themselves leaving Chipotle mid-order to protest rising food prices and shrinking portions.

Others have put Chipotle employees and portions under the spotlight with the new “cell phone rule.”

It involves holding your phone while workers prepare your food, hoping that the pressure of being recorded or potentially recorded will encourage them to give you more food.

A TikToker (@trinhdoesthings) put the rule to the test in a recent video.

“I went in first and I was filming – I made it clear that I was filming. After I left, my husband came in. Let’s see if this new rule holds true,” Trinh said.

She and her husband ordered the same burrito bowl, except she ordered queso while he ordered shredded cheese.

The content creator visually compared the two bowls and determined that they looked the same.

Trinh then pulled out the scale for the real test and found her bowl weighed 25.75 ounces.

Her husband’s bowl was next weighed and came in at 21.45 ounces – 4.3 ounces less.

“So, does it work out? If you weigh it and try to be exact, I think I got a little more food than he did,” the TikToker concluded.

AND TRUTH?

However, a Chipotle employee weighed in in the comments section to set the record straight.

They said they never received an email or message from their manager to give larger amounts to recording customers.

“Maybe they haven’t been told yet, but it seems unbelievable,” they said.

The employee suspected the difference in weight might be because the queso weighs more than the shredded cheese.

Chipotle Loyalty Perks

The Mexican fast food chain has a rewards program for frequent Chipotle customers.

Chipotle advertises its rewards program as “the fastest way to unlock Chipotle.”

Customers receive 10 points for every $1 spent in the restaurant, in-app or online.

They can exchange their points for rewards in exchange for free food.

Customers also receive free guacamole instantly when they sign up.

Additionally, the network offers a birthday reward.

They also said there were likely very small differences in the amount of other ingredients, including rice, beans, sauce and proteins.

“It is impossible to give exactly the same portion to each person”, commented the worker.

“Anyway, I do my best to give good portions. If I notice that the spoonful of meat was not ‘full’, I would add a little more telling customers ‘I could use a little more’.”

The US Sun has reached out to Chipotle for comment.

In related news, Chipotle customers say “math isn’t math” as they point out a major issue with the portion size guide.

Plus, a former Chipotle employee shared the truth about why they weigh meat — “it’s not our fault,” you need twice as much.
