But some members have taken to social media to share what they see as irrational returns.

One of them said that his mother-in-law even went to the store to return almonds.

Posting on r/Costco, one user asked employees to share the return attempts they found to be most “overly abusive.”

Hundreds responded to the thread, sharing their stories.

One user shared his mother-in-law’s surprise return.

Her almonds weren’t salty enough, she said.

She had apparently lost the label.

“My MIL came back and reprimanded a high school student because her almonds (clearly labeled ‘No Salt Added’) weren’t salty,” they said.

The return may have been accepted even though the user left the end of the story ambiguous.

“She’s the kind of crazy person who’s afraid to say no in case she burns down the store,” they joked.

Costco List of exceptions to the return policy does not include food, which means the food can be returned to the store for a full refund.

However, there are limitations on returns of electronics, jewelry, and other specialty items.
