A LOTTERY player’s mistake almost cost him thousands of dollars after he missed an important clue that tipped him off that his scratch card was a winner.

He spent $50 on the $5,000,000 scratch-off game, which offers prizes of at least $100.

The unidentified man used a penny to scratch off the lottery ticket and didn’t think it was a winner.

But out of habit, he scanned the ticket at his local liquor store in Silver Spring, Maryland — about 35 minutes southwest of Baltimore.

Only then did he realize that the scratch-off was actually a $100,000 winner.

It turns out that the man missed a corresponding number that signaled his prize money.

The man ignored the match at the end of his ticket with the winning number 13.

“I got goosebumps,” the man counted Maryland Lottery Officials.

“I didn’t believe it.

“It’s just a blessing. I never dreamed I would make so much money.”

The man plans to use his newly acquired money to pay bills and is thinking about renovating his house.

But this wasn’t his only recent victory.

The week before his big windfall on May 24, the man won $1,000 playing a different scratch card.

He was shocked to learn of his second big win, according to lottery officials.

The $5,000,000 cash game offers players 50 chances to win, with 1 in 3.05 odds of winning a cash prize.

BIG MISTAKE

Elsewhere in the country, another lottery player almost lost his $50,000 Powerball ticket after making a big mistake.

Tierra Barley of Virginia relied on the numbers in a fortune cookie when purchasing her Powerball ticket.

But she accidentally left the ticket behind after buying it at the local supermarket.

When he realized his mistake, he returned to the store and found another customer buying lottery tickets.

However, that person helped return Barley’s ticket, the Virginia Lottery said.

She matched four numbers plus the Powerball from the May 8 drawing, resulting in a big win.

Meanwhile, a lucky Kentucky man secured a $1 million win in a scratch-off game in his state.

But he didn’t scratch the note right away.

Instead, he scanned the game’s barcode, revealing the message: “See KLC Corp.”

“Well, this is going to be really good,” he said.

He took home the top prize offered by the game.

After taxes on the lump sum offer, he walked away with $627,120.

The man plans to retire thanks to the prize money.
