T-MOBILE has completed a $4.4 billion acquisition to buy former rival US Cellular, and customers could soon see lower prices on their phone plans, according to the company.
The agreement was announced this Tuesday morning.
T-Mobile will acquire all of US Cellular’s customers, stores, spectrum operations and other assets for a Press release.
The company said the purchase of US Cellular would enable expanded reach of its 5G network to customers in rural areas for a “superior connectivity experience,” the company said.
It would also allow US Cellular customers to take advantage of “value-added” plans at lower prices, with exclusive perks and benefits they have not previously seen.
T-Mobile promised that the deal and the prospect of new plans would subsequently “save US Cellular customers hundreds of millions of dollars” in its announcement.
Existing T-Mobile customers will also be able to take advantage of the network reach that comes with US Cellular upon purchase.
T-Mobile said its users can get improved connectivity in areas that were previously limited before the deal.
