SUBWAY dessert is back on the menu, but some fans don’t care.

Subway customers complained about the dessert’s texture and encouraged the fast-food chain to focus on what it is known for.

On May 29, Subway announced the return of its Footlong Cookie to U.S. menus.

The fast food chain shared news of the cookie’s return on Facebook with the caption “BEST NEWS EVER,” but fans quickly disagreed.

“Maybe focus on getting your ‘sandwich artists’ to make sandwiches correctly?” a customer exploded.

“I’ve always been hard as a rock,” shared another.

Others were less interested in the cookie and instead begged the chain to bring in other menu items.

“Unless you bring back five dollars from Footlong, no one cares,” wrote one.

Other menu orders included chopped salad, tortilla wraps and seafood sensation.

However, customer feelings about the cookie return were not all negative.

According to a recent national survey, 70% of participants said eating a Footlong cookie would brighten their day.

75% of millennials and 77% of Gen Z respondents said the return of the cookie would brighten their day.

A SWEET SCHEDULE

Subway’s Footlong Cookie is filled with chocolate chips and served warm, costing customers $5.

The 12-inch cookie appeared in select restaurants on National Cookie Day in 2022 and 2023.

Then, on January 22nd of this year, the dessert was made available in Subway restaurants nationwide as part of the Subway Sidekicks long snack menu.

Along with the cookie, fans could get the Cinnabon Footlong Churro for $2 or the Auntie Anne’s Footlong Pretzel for $3.

“The introduction of Sidekicks builds on six decades of equity and experience across the board,” said Douglas Fry, president of Subway North America.

“This all-new category on our menu offers Subway fans something they won’t find anywhere else and kicks off a year of culinary innovation and delicious new menu items. 2024 could be the most exciting chapter yet in our growth story.”

In the first two weeks of its launch, Subway sold more than 3.5 million snacks, with the most popular being cookies.

Unexpected demand for cookies led to supply issues, and the chain was forced to temporarily remove them from its app and third-party delivery services like DoorDash in February due to CNN.

After months of fan demand, Subway has reinstated the popular cookie in restaurants, online and on the app.

“The Footlong Cookie has delighted millions of Americans since their first bite in January, generating unprecedented demand in recent months,” said Paul Fabre, Subway’s senior vice president of culinary and innovation.

“Subway worked diligently to rush additional supply of Footlong cookies to satisfy cookie cravings at a great value and serve up a long dose of happiness this summer.”

In related news, Subway fans exclaimed it was the “best decision ever” following a major drinks change across 19,500 locations.

Additionally, a woman was charged $1,000 for a Subway sandwich and the store closed while she tried to get a refund.
