A HOMEOWNER had to get outside assistance to help resolve a problem she had after her bank overcharged her mortgage.

Pinellas County, Florida woman had to wait two months before the issue was resolved after US Bank paid property taxes on the wrong home.

Because of the large deficit the problem caused her, Patricia Bacon had to get help from the NBC affiliate WFLA-TV, the news network reported.

Bacon praised news team investigator Shannon Behnken for her support as things quickly turned around for the resident after she intervened.

The woman said she had been struggling with the problem caused by the bank’s error since March 11.

“It put a burden on me,” Bacon emphasized.

“I had a birthday that I couldn’t enjoy.”

Behnken said he intervened to get the company to take action to correct its error.

She was supposedly getting nowhere by trying to get US Bank to listen to her on its own.

“I can’t thank you enough,” Bacon said.

“You work miracles. Something that took me two and a half months to try to solve, you solved it in one day. I’m so excited.”

I’m a real estate agent and my home’s value went up $150,000 along with my mortgage – I took three steps to reduce my monthly payments (check the notice of assessment, gather evidence, find prices)

After the homeowner received a little help, the mortgage company got rid of all the charges that had caused her a financial deficit.

“All the late fees, everything,” Bacon explained.

“They still can’t explain to me how they arrived at the amount they did, but everything is sorted.”

The unexpected charges she received, in addition to her own bill, were for a much larger house, completely unrelated to her home.

“The issue involved incorrect third-party information and once it was brought to our attention, we took steps to correct it. We regret the inconvenience caused and have been working directly with the customer to resolve the issue.”

The accident meant a deficit of US$7,476.

“They weren’t moving,” the owner explained.

“They were going to make me research a question I didn’t create – they created this question.”

After contacting the WFLA-TV investigator, it was only a few hours before a U.S. Bank representative looked into the details of his situation and things began to change for Bacon.

The mortgage company even issued a statement about the error that led to the homeowner being overcharged.

“The issue involved incorrect third-party information, and once it was brought to our attention, we took steps to correct it,” US Bank told WFLA-TV.

“We regret the inconvenience caused and have been working directly with the customer to resolve the issue.”

The company also called Bacon to apologize.

In addition to correcting the error, the owner said U.S. Bank even credited her with the property tax on her condo, which surprised her.

U.S. Bank did not immediately respond to U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
