He owns three cars and often uses the license plates as inspiration for his lottery bets.

Last week, the man picked the numbers 56843 for a $1 bet on the midday and evening Pick 5 drawings.

He went to the Liquor Barn in Taneytown — about 75 miles north of Baltimore — to buy the ticket.

After the noon draw, the man realized he had won the $50,000 prize and celebrated.

He plans to retire in July and intends to use his money to pay your bills.

For the futurethe man wants to focus on his hobbies, which include various home and garden projects.

Liquor Barn, where the man frequently purchased lottery tickets, will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

DON’T TELL THEM

Maryland is one of 11 states that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

Other states include Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia and Texas.

It is mandatory for lottery winners to claim the jackpot to receive their winnings; however, most states require them to do so publicly.

States like California ban winners from staying anonymous.

If you decide to play your state’s lottery, it’s important to read the guidelines and regulations regarding prizes.

For those who win to remain anonymousMany experts advise not telling anyone about the jackpot and avoiding changing much of your lifestyle.

Deleting social media accounts, changing phone numbers and addresses can also help winners remain anonymous.

Experts also advise creating an LLC or trust to make large purchases and hiring an attorney and financial advisor to manage the funds.

Some players even wear disguises when claiming their winnings, however, this depends on the state in which you live.

Lottery winnings: lump sum or annual fee?

Players who win big on lottery tickets typically have a choice to make: lump sum or annual fee?

Both payment methods can affect how much money you receive from your prize.

Annuities are paid slowly in increments, usually over 30 years.

Lump sums are paid all at once, but in smaller amounts since taxes are withheld all at once. This means 24% of your prize goes to Uncle Sam immediately. Many states also tax earnings.

Annuities can give winners time to create the financial infrastructure necessary to receive a life-changing amount of money, but lump sums have the advantage of being taxed only once.

It’s also worth considering inflation when making a choice, as payments don’t adjust to the value of a dollar. This means you will likely receive less valuable money at the end of an annuity.

Each state and game pays prizes differently, so it’s best to check with your state’s lottery to confirm payment policies. A financial advisor can also help you weigh the pros and cons of each option.

Experts have differing opinions on the possibility of take the fixed amount or take the annual fee.

According to USA Lotterythe odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are one in 302.6 million and the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in 292.2 million.

Lottery players are more likely to become president or Hollywood celebrities, be killed by a bee or have Siamese twins than win a big jackpot.

Meanwhile, a lucky lottery player won $300,000 at a gas station after feeling lucky.

Additionally, an unknown winner is being warned to come forward after winning a jackpot worth nearly $215 million.
