Divorce typically leads to the division of many marital assets, including, in some cases, Costco membership.

While couples don’t have to be married to share membership, it’s up to the primary account holder to decide who stays added to their account.

“My divorce feels more real now that I’ve been kicked out of our Costco membership,” wrote one recently on Reddit.

“So now I want to buy one even though I don’t need it.”

Others in the comments sympathized with her difficult experience.

“My ex did the same without warning,” wrote one.

“They felt bad for me and gave me a Costco gift card.”

Another said: “Honestly, one of the hardest things for me after my last breakup was watching couples at Costco and being sad that they had no one to buy socks and underwear for, or discussing an unplanned purchase to make $3,000. tidy room while I’m sitting in it.”

Someone even suggested this could have been avoided by including it in the premarital agreement.

“Seems like Costco subscriptions should be added to any prenup…sorry for your loss,” they wrote.

‘UGLIEST FIGHT’

Others revealed that Costco membership was a contentious issue within their divisions.

“It was the ugliest fight of my divorce,” wrote one.

“Ex went to Costco, checked out, and found out her membership wasn’t good. She gave me a double fuck over the phone at the membership desk. Seven years later and she’s still bitter about it.”

Another shared: “I canceled my ex’s card but didn’t tell her.

“Since gas the prices are crazy and the queue is always huge, I got a nasty message after she waited for an hour and discovered a glorious little sunny day for me…”
