The $50,000 ticket came from a 7-Eleven in Hamptonville, North Carolina — about an hour north of Charlotte, according to TheNews&Observador.

It was drawn on Wednesday, May 29th.

The winning numbers were the white balls 17-34-56-60-61 with a red Powerball 9.

While still a huge prize, the winner was just one number away from the massive multi-million dollar prize.

In the early hours of May 30, the North Carolina player had not shown up to claim the prize.

The state gives sweepstakes winners about six months to withdraw their money.

HOW TO PLAY

To win the Powerball jackpot, the player needs to match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

However, the chances of winning are very small, at 1 in 292,201,338, according to the outlet.

Drawings take place on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 pm ET.

Tickets can be purchased on the day of the draws, but sales times and prices depend on the state.

I thought I pocketed $4 from the Powerball lottery, but it was a mistake – the employee whispered that I won 12,500 times the amount

Another winning lottery ticket has yet to be claimed in North Carolina, but this one costs $150,000.

The $3 Power Play ticket was purchased for December 6, 2023, by drawing at a Merchant’s grocery store.

The winning numbers were 2-12-37-56-65 and red 21.

There are only two days left to redeem your ticket as your winnings will expire on Tuesday, June 4th at 5pm.

Lottery winnings: lump sum or annual fee?

Players who win big on lottery tickets typically have a choice to make: lump sum or annual fee?

Both payment methods can affect how much money you receive from your prize.

Annuities are paid slowly in increments, usually over 30 years.

Lump sums are paid all at once, but in smaller amounts since taxes are withheld all at once. This means 24% of your prize goes to Uncle Sam immediately. Many states also tax earnings.

Annuities can give winners time to create the financial infrastructure needed to receive a life-changing amount of money, but lump sums have the advantage of being taxed only once.

It’s also worth considering inflation when making a choice, as payments don’t adjust to the value of a dollar. This means you will likely receive less valuable money at the end of an annuity.

Each state and game pays prizes differently, so it’s best to check with your state’s lottery to confirm payment policies. A financial advisor can also help you weigh the pros and cons of each option.

Experts have differing opinions on the possibility of take the fixed amount or take the annual fee.

After 180 days, the prize becomes unclaimable.

“Research wherever you keep your tickets and double-check that you have the winning ticket,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the North Carolina Education Lottery. FOX 8.

“We hope that whoever bought this ticket comes forward to claim their prize by Tuesday, so we can celebrate their big win with them.”

State taxes are 4.75%, which means they will take $7,125 off the total.

Federally, 24% of earnings will be withheld, which equates to $36,000 in taxes.

In total, the winner will take home around $106,000.

However, if the player had matched an additional white ball number, they would have won the jackpot of $437,400,000.
