Arizona state lawmakers approved a rebate for taxpayers of between $100 and $750.
The funds are allocated from the state’s $2 billion surplus in tax revenues.
The rebate is the first time in three decades that the Arizona government has returned money to its citizens.
Property tax exemption for New Yorkers
New York State offers property tax benefits to residents through the School Tax Relief (STAR) program.
There are two methods for eligible individuals to receive assistance through the program:
- Those who receive an exemption may experience a reduction in their school tax bill. However, this only applies to beneficiaries who have received aid through STAR since 2015.
- Those registered for STAR credit will receive their benefits via check or direct deposit.
New York homeowners with incomes of less than $500,000 may qualify for the check. However, they are required to use the credit to pay school taxes.
Guaranteed Income in North Carolina
Durham County, North Carolina is launching a guaranteed income program for a targeted group of individuals.
Approximately 125 residents will be chosen to participate and receive US$750 in monthly installments.
Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to earn an additional $100 per month by completing surveys.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members are eligible to claim compensation for various expenses incurred as a result of the breach.
They can request reimbursement of up to $400 for ordinary expenses arising from the breach, including bank fees and credit charges.
Additionally, individuals can request payment for up to four hours of lost time, compensated at a rate of $25 per hour.
For those who have suffered losses due to identity theft fraud, they can claim up to $6,500 in damages, along with an additional three hours of lost time at a rate of $25 per hour.
However, to be eligible for reimbursement, all expenses must be supported by appropriate documentation, such as receipts or bank records.

Following a 2022 data breach that compromised its employees’ personal information, Five Guys reached a settlement, agreeing to pay $700,000 to resolve a class action lawsuit.
The lawsuit, arising from allegations that the fast-food chain failed to adequately protect its employees from cyber threats, alleged that Five Guys could have prevented the breach by implementing “reasonable” cybersecurity measures to protect confidential information.
Approximately 38,000 employees were affected by the data breach.
While denying any wrongdoing, Five Guys chose to settle the lawsuit by agreeing to pay $700,000, as reported by Bloomberg Law.

Veterans must apply for benefits to receive monthly checks and must comply a list of requirements be eligible.
To qualify for the checks, veterans must not have been dishonorably discharged and must have been disabled or exposed to danger during service.
The VA sends benefits on the first of the previous month.
However, with the recent payment because June 1st fell on a Saturday, May benefits were sent on Friday, May 31st.
