MCDONALD’S is planning a change to its soft drinks policies that has some customers outraged.

The fast food giant will place soda machines behind the counter, limiting customer access.

McD’s typically places the soda machine in front of the counter, allowing people to refill drinks.

But that’s changing at some restaurants.

The chain is removing soda machines across the country and eliminating free refills at some stores, according to New York Daily News.

All drinking stations are expected to be removed by 2032.

It will be up to individual franchise owners to decide whether to offer free refills.

Some people on social media said their local McDonald’s has already removed the drink stations.

Now, the rollout is coming to states like Michigan, according to the local broadcaster WITL.

CONSUMER REACTION

WITL shared the story online, which attracted some attention.

Several customers took to Facebook to lament the change.

“The best thing at McDonald’s is Coca-Cola,” said one. “It’s the only reason I go.”

Another commented with an eye-rolling emoji.

“Wow, they’re getting really stingy with what you pay at that place,” they said.

Other supposed free top-ups could be maintained.

“Looks like it will be up to the owners to fix things,” added another.

It’s unclear how many franchises will charge for refills.

MCDONALD NEWS

A dissatisfied customer recently shared that she left the network, in part because of the removal of top-ups.

The social media user said he wished he had gone to In-N-Out Burger.

The company’s president recently brought in receipts to quell rumors about extreme inflation.

However, their data also showed a sharp increase in prices.

McDonald’s has renewed its focus on accessibility in recent months.

This comes at a time when the chain is also looking for better quality in its burgers.
