“After careful consideration, we have decided to close the Walgreens pharmacy…on Monday,” the note began.

“The storefront of this location will remain open for your convenience so you can continue to visit the store to purchase beauty and everyday household products, groceries and photo orders.”

The Bend, Oregon location is one of two Walgreens locations in the city.

Instead of going to that location to fulfill their pharmaceutical needs, the store redirected customers to another nearby location and apologized for the inconvenience.

“We are committed to providing the same service and convenience you enjoy at your current Walgreens pharmacy,” the note continues.

“If you have questions, feel free to ask any Walgreens pharmacist.”

The note informed customers that all of their prescriptions and records had been sent to the other pharmacy.

The closure of Walgreens’ pharmacy section doesn’t come as a surprise to those who frequently go to the pharmacy.

Customers said the store “is so short-staffed that it is not uncommon to hear they are behind on 400-500 prescriptions,” NBC affiliate KTVZ reported.

“When faced with the difficult decision to close a pharmacy, several factors are taken into consideration, including our existing presence of stores and pharmacies, local market dynamics, changes in the purchasing habits of our patients and staff, among other reasons, ” a spokesperson for the pharmacy chain told KTVZ.

“We are committed to our patients and offering them options to ease the transition as this pharmacy closes so we can continue to meet their needs.”

Oregon currently has the second-fewest number of operating pharmacies, with Alaska beating out the state for first place in the country, the Associated Press reports. reported.

Walgreens nationwide are struggling as the company focuses on restructuring.

Last summer, the chain announced it would close 150 stores across the country.

In May, the chain announced that 650 jobs in Connecticut and Florida would be cut, Newsweek reported.

Last year, the company shifted its focus from pharmaceutical retail to healthcare services.

“I am confident that WBA (Walgreens Boots Alliance) is on track to be a leading consumer-centric healthcare company serving thousands of communities across the country, especially those most in need of access to healthcare,” he said former Walgreens CEO Rosaling Brewer as she left the company last September.

“I look forward to seeing the company continue its transformation to deliver localized healthcare.”

The national network is still unclear, but the company’s losses are getting smaller and smaller.

In January, Walgreens reported a first-quarter net loss of $67 million, compared with the year-ago net loss of $3.7 billion.
