SOLOMON Choi was a decorated entrepreneur, entrepreneur and consultant best known for his ventures in the food, beverage and hospitality sectors.

Choi passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, leaving behind family, friends and several successful businesses, including 16 Handles, New York City’s first self-serve frozen yogurt restaurant chain.

Who was the founder of 16 Handles, Solomon Choi?

Solomon Choi was born on April 20, 1980, in Seoul, South Korea.

His parents, William WonJin Choi and Jennifer YunHwa Choi, eventually moved to Los Angeles, enrolling him at Granada Hills High School.

In 2002, Choi graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business.

After graduating, Choi became vice president of marketing and operations at Todai Seafood Buffet, the first all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant franchise in the US.

He then became a Director of Rich Hospitality Investments, Inc., a Los Angeles-based hotel group.

Choi co-founded Greeno Products in September 2008, which focused on manufacturing environmentally friendly paper cups and containers for restaurants, bakeries, food trucks and local chains.

From 2019 to 2022, he served as a Strategic Consultant at Lunchbox, a set of digital ordering platforms.

Choi was fluent in English, Korean, Spanish and Chinese.

He has been a member of Intro.co, Soho House, Guidepoint, AlphaSights, GLG, Coleman Research, and YBLN.

Choi also previously served on the boards of Yext and Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, and was a member of YEC, EO Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and International Students Inc.
