A COSTCO member is telling others the secret to saving $60 every time they shop.
The hack requires avoiding certain items from the wholesale retailer and opting for a specific set of others.
Costco members are on a constant mission to make the most of their memberships.
Shoppers are taking to social media to share how they hacked Costco shopping and tricks to get around membership policies.
One user took to X, the site formerly known as Twitter, asking how many visits it takes to Costco for shoppers to justify the cost of the membership.
“Usually one,” replied another user in a publish.
“It’s only $60 for a membership. I go there once every two weeks, and every time I go, I easily save over $60.”
But saving money comes with a shopping strategy, according to the user.
First, they said they don’t buy fresh produce at Costco.
Avoiding “anything that spoils quickly” helps them avoid losing the money they claimed, since they don’t have kids to spend on bulk items.
They then provided a list of purchases that have helped them save money in the past.
These items include:
- bulk meat
- cheese
- milk
- Coconut Water
- Raos
- cookies
- mayonnaise
- toilet paper
- fabrics
- paper towels
- trash bags
- plastic bags
- vitamins
- toothbrush
- allergy medicine
- headache medicine
According to the user, each of these purchases costs “significantly less at Costco”.
RISK THE RETURN
User X continued to further warn members, explaining how they saved with the store’s e-return policy.
“You can basically buy a vacuum, take a chainsaw, return it and they will give you a new one,” they wrote.

While the store’s policy gives members money back on most items they aren’t 100% satisfied with, there are some limitations when it comes to electronics.
According to Costco return policyElectronic product returns will be accepted within 90 days from the date the member received the product.
While some customers say they made risky returns, others missed out, with one man claiming he was banned from returning electronics for six months after repeatedly asking for refunds on a series of TV purchases.
Another customer got into trouble after making several returns, including a three-year-old beard trimmer and an expensive electric toothbrush.
