A COSTCO member is giving advice to other members after they were allegedly overcharged by the company.

The members-only wholesale grocery store is loved by many shoppers for its low prices, but one Facebook user shared their complaint.

The user posted a warning.

“Costco members: always check your receipts,” he said.

He claimed that on two consecutive visits he was overcharged.

DOUBLE SCAN

The member said that the first time two wine bottles were scanned by mistake.

He bought an expensive wine and a cheaper wine, and the cashier examined the expensive wine twice, he said.

The second time, an item was charged twice by mistake.

Both errors were likely due to a cashier’s error.

He said he thought the two errors were a coincidence, but was watching for a pattern.

“Looking at the third mistake,” he said.

Checking your receipt before leaving the store can be time-consuming, but it’s a good way to ensure charges were made correctly.

Costco member surprised after new policy is now ‘mandatory’ — and it’s bad news if you don’t have a smartphone

It’s unclear whether the Facebook user received a refund for the alleged errors.

MORE COSTCO ISSUES

Another Costco insider recently shared that a mistaken charge led to weeks of accusations.

Although the bank blamed Costco, Costco said it was the bank’s error.

This was a problem for the member, who owed the bank more than $1,000 extra for the purchase.

Ultimately, the issue was resolved – although as a result, the member lost the ability to order online.

Costco Return Policy

What are the details of the famous return policy?

“We guarantee your satisfaction with every product we sell and will refund the purchase price,” said the return policy States.

There are some exceptions to this 100% satisfaction guarantee, which are:

  • Electronics – Returns will be accepted within 90 days from the date the member received the product.
  • Diamonds – 1.00 ct or larger must be returned with all original documentation within 48 hours and will be inspected for authenticity.
  • Cigarettes and alcoholic beverages – These items cannot be returned by law.
  • Items with a limited shelf life, such as batteries and tires, cannot be returned.
  • Special order kiosk and custom installed programs may only be returned or refunded if under warranty repair/replacement.
  • Gold bars, silver bars and coins are non-refundable.
  • Store Cards are non-refundable.
  • Airline and live performance event items are non-refundable.

Costco memberships can be canceled and refunded at any time if the customer is dissatisfied.

Other shoppers took aim at Costco’s strict policies.

The company makes a large part of its profit through membership fees, which allows it to keep the prices of its products low.

But some are still getting creative in trying to subvert company rules.

A customer canceled his subscription after 15 years due to a dispute over a washing machine.

Another said he was ‘hurt’ after being disqualified from a promotion.
