A FRED Meyer shopper has hit out at the chain after claiming she was overcharged on three separate occasions in a matter of months.
She hit the retailer after realizing her mistake when looking at her receipt.
Katherine Hanson was angry because the sales prices of the merchandise did not appear on the piece of paper, according to a Facebook publish.
She claimed that the same problem had been happening for the last two months.
This meant she was forced to stand in the customer service queue.
Hanson said an employee told him a worker had to enter the codes manually.
“I can only imagine how many people (including myself on other purchases) were not overcharged,” she said.
“It’s a real problem.”
Hanson said he considered using self-checkout machines to reduce the risk of overcharging.
But she said she’s going to Fred Meyer does her weekly shopping and buys many items.
Hanson also said he sometimes goes to Trader Joe’s, but shares another obstacle.
“Unfortunately, TJ doesn’t have everything I need,” she told another customer.
Officials have revealed what shoppers should do if they feel they have been overcharged.
Customers using self-service machines should keep an eye on the screen to ensure they have been charged correctly as per Los Angeles County Consumer and Business Affairs Department.
Any warning signs should be pointed out to a store employee.
Customers should thoroughly review their receipts before leaving the store.
What to do if you are overwhelmed
If you’re overcharged at a retailer, there are a few ways you can get your money back.
If you notice that you have been charged more than the advertised or published price, inform an employee or manager.
Be sure to keep your receipt to show the price difference.
As a buyer, you are entitled to the lowest advertised, published or quoted price offered by the store.
If you are charged more than the advertised, posted or quoted price, inform the seller immediately. If the seller cannot help, speak to the manager.
Stores must honor the published price, even if the price has expired.
You can also dispute charges with your bank if you notice something suspicious on your statement.

Any errors detected by buyers must be reported to the customer service team.
They will then be able to correct any errors on a receipt or give customers a discount.

The state is gradually reducing the sales tax on food.

“My advice would just be [to] look very closely at what the final bill is – look very closely at what the final charge is versus the price on the product listing page,” he said.
