CALIFORNIA residents who worked for Amazon could receive a $3 million settlement payout.
A wage and hour class action lawsuit alleged that Amazon violated state laws by underpaying employees who worked overtime.
The plaintiffs in the case allege that employees who received signing bonuses and/or signing bonuses the same week they worked overtime were underpaid.
The lawsuit alleges that the normal rate of pay should have been calculated to include the bonuses.
Employees who worked between July 22, 2017 and November 7, 2023 may have been affected.
Amazon denied any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the lawsuit with a payment of $3.6 million.

Individuals do not need to fill out claim forms to receive their payment.
Payments will be sent in cash and will vary depending on how much Amazon allegedly owes each person.
However, they are expected to be worth an average of $565.43.
MORE MONEY
There is another opportunity for Americans to claim a check for $1,655.
The annual payment comes from the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD).
The money comes from the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation’s oil and mining revenues and has been sent every year since 1982.
Since it is based on annual income, the amount fluctuates, and this year, lawmakers agreed to pay each resident about $1,650.
This is an increase from last year when the dividend was just $1,312.
What is a class action settlement?

Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or “classes,” a way to come together in court.
These lawsuits are often filed by one or a few people who allege that a company or other entity has harmed a large group of people.
When a lawsuit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar claims to those who filed the lawsuit.
Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue legal action by accepting money.
These payment agreements often include statements from the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.
Pollution, discrimination or false advertising are some examples of what can lead to a class action lawsuit at a company’s door.
