A BELOVED thrill ride is set to temporarily close at Walt Disney World in Florida, upsetting fans who are sad to see it go.

The test track presented by Chevrolet at Epcot will be closed on June 17th for renovations.

The attraction, which officially debuted in 1999, allowed Disney guests to create their own virtual car while waiting in line.

Afterwards, six passengers are loaded into a “SIM Car” and taken on a high-speed tour around the attraction’s exterior.

Drivers are taken on a simulated tour through testing procedures that General Motors uses to evaluate its concept cars.

Cars can reach speeds of up to 65 mph and guests can check the scoreboard after the ride to see how the car is performing.

Once the cycle is complete, drivers can choose to download a commercial with them in the car or race through a mini virtual obstacle course.

Passengers can even take a photo to take home in front of their imaginary car.

Construction walls were located around the attraction, located in the World Discovery section of the park — formerly known as Future World, according to the local Fox affiliate. WOFL.

DISNEY FANS DESTROYED

Fans criticized the park for closing the ride just before peak travel season for many families.

“Closing the test track while keeping the park’s main thrill ride (Cosmic Rewind) under lock and key with a virtual queue system that many tourists don’t understand is truly crazy,” wrote one person on X, formerly known as like Twitter.

“The way I’ve never been to the Test Track yet and I really thought they weren’t going to close anytime soon! I’m so bitter,” wrote another person.

A third wrote: “Test Track was elite Disney quality, and to close it to a damn sponsor is disgusting. DISNEY WILL NEVER SURVIVE.”

“What a shame, it’s going to take so long. One of my kids is obsessed with this ride,” another person wrote.

There is no information at this time when the Test Track will reopen.

A TEST TRACK FOR THE FUTURE

Concept art for the reimagined version of the ride dubbed “Test Track 3.0” by fans shows a sleeker entrance marquee.

Disney officials announced that the Imagineers and Chevrolet teams are taking inspiration from World of Motion, the ride that Test Track replaced.

World of Motion was an opening day attraction at what was then Epcot Center in 1982 before closing in 1996.

“Disconnecting from…OnStar. Test Track 2.0 has officially closed at EPCOT to be reimagined,” said Disney fan Drew Smith (@DrewDisneyDude) explained in X.

“This version of the attraction officially opened on December 6, 2012 and has operated until today, June 16, 2024 – more than 4,200 days,” he said.

He shared a blue-hued image of the Test Track zone at Epcot along with the information.

“Disney says Walt Disney Imagineers, along with Chevrolet teams, are reaching back into history for inspiration in the original World of Motion and bringing that spirit of optimism to the next iteration of Test Track,” he added.
