AUTOMATIC payments will be made within weeks to Amazon workers eligible for part of a $3 million settlement.
This comes after the company faced a class-action lawsuit that alleged underpaid Amazon workers worked overtime in violation of state laws.
The lawsuit alleged that workers who received signing bonuses and/or signing bonuses the same week they worked overtime were underpaid.
In agreeing to the settlement, Amazon did not admit any wrongdoing.
Those eligible for payment will have worked between July 22, 2017 and November 7, 2023.
However, the deadline for withdrawal expired on Monday.
This would have allowed eligible claimants to retain their legal rights to initiate future legal action relating to the same claims.
Also on June 17, plaintiffs were able to file objections to the settlement that saw Amazon agree to pay each class member about $565.43.
The exact amount paid to each member will vary depending on the amount owed.
After this period, anyone who has not been excluded from the settlement will automatically start receiving payments.
No claim forms or receipts had to be presented by class members for payment.
The final approval hearing is scheduled for September 10, 2024.
Once that happens, if the court rules that the settlement is fair to all parties, Amazon will begin making payments.
Meanwhile, drivers could be entitled to a $1,300 payment in a settlement with a car dealership.
Plaintiffs do not need to apply and should have been notified in April about a class action lawsuit against JK Buick GMC, a dealership in Illinois.
The lawsuit alleged that the dealership sent messages to customers who opted out of receiving communications.
If true, this would have been a violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
The dealership denied any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $130,000 to resolve the complaints.

Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or “classes,” a way to come together in court.
These lawsuits are often filed by one or a few people who allege that a company or other entity has harmed a large group of people.
When a lawsuit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar claims to those who filed the lawsuit.
Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue legal action by accepting money.
These payment agreements often include statements from the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.
Pollution, discrimination or false advertising are some examples of what can lead to a class action lawsuit at a company’s door.
Claimants have just a few days to cancel the payment, with a deadline of June 24th and payments will be made in August.

Families who qualify for a $900,000 grant can spend it as they see fit.
Registration closes in a few days, with 150 families ready to receive money.
