The chatbot will appear as an app on an employee’s handheld device and provide information about tasks like resetting a cash register or enrolling a customer in Target’s loyalty program.

“Generative AI is changing the game technology and Store Companion will make everyday tasks easier and allow our team to respond to guest requests with confidence and efficiency,” said Mark Schindele, executive vice president and chief store officer, in a press release.

“The tool frees up time and attention for our team to lovingly serve guests and create a shopping destination that invites discovery, relaxation and moments of everyday joy.”

The new technology will be tested in 400 stores and there are plans to make the app available to most workers in almost all locations by August.

Initial feedback has proven to be positive so far.

“We are hearing great feedback from our team about the new app,” he said Jake Seaquist, store director at one of the pilot locations in Champlin, Minnesota.

“Simplifying daily tasks is very important to our team members and results in more time spent with guests and a better guest experience throughout the store.”

Employees have been sharing their internal knowledge and adding materials to help shape the tool.

Target said in December it was using AI to help shoppers personalize journeys online and in stores.

Shoppers have turned to online shopping for convenience, which is why many retailers have personalized the experience with predictive technology.

“We’re here to make sure they get the right tools to do their jobs.”

Amazon, Wal-MartIt is Best buy have recently launched similar tools to help employees or buyers.

What is a retail chatbot?

Retailers are turning to artificial intelligence to personalize and improve the shopping experience.

Retail chatbots are automated virtual customer assistants that can drive sales and help shoppers by answering questions and providing suggestions.

Chatbots are used with generative AI and typically have natural language processing capabilities so they can respond to human speech.

Using AI, a chatbot can learn over time, meaning the more interactions it has, the better it becomes.

Chatbots are great for:

  • Increasing personalization
  • Reducing costs and improving return on investment
  • Improving customer service

They can also be used to extend customer support hours, track orders, collect feedback, and find physical locations for shoppers.

CEO Doug McMillon said the company saw good results just a month after launching the tool.

Best Buy has partnered with Google Cloud and Accenture to use AI to offer shoppers a more personalized experience.

“We are excited to bring these AI-powered capabilities to life for our customers and employees, leveraging Google The cloud AI platform, Vertex AI and Twins models“, Best buy said in a statement.

“O future The retail industry is constantly evolving and we are committed to staying at the forefront of serving our customers in a way no one else can.”
