While the Italian restaurant chain doesn’t plan to offer discounts on additional menu items, the CEO shared that it will continue with its popular pasta business.
Ricardo Cardenas, CEO of Darden Restaurants – Olive Garden’s parent company – announced the fate of the chain’s menu in an earnings call on June 21.
He shared that while the chain isn’t planning to offer a new discount, it will continue to promote its popular $12.99 Create Your Own Pasta deal.
“On TV right now, we have our Create Your Own Pasta for $12.99 with the price of television. We believe Olive Garden has great value in everyday life,” Cardenas said.
He noted that the chain plans to showcase the value of the Italian chain by continuing to highlight the $12.99 deal rather than offering additional discounts to customers.
CREATE YOUR OWN DOUGH
For just $12.99, Olive Garden customers can “Create a new Italian classic with pasta your way, handmade in our Italian kitchen!”
Customers must first choose the type of pasta they want. They can choose from rigatoni, spaghetti, angel hair and gluten-free rotini.
The second step is to select a sauce. Marinara, five-cheese marinara, meat sauce and creamy mushroom are available.
Olive Garden customers can choose to add toppings like meatballs, Italian sausage, grilled chicken, shrimp or broccoli for an additional charge.
As part of the $12.99 deal, customers also receive two baguettes and their choice of soup or salad.
Additionally, customers can choose to pay an additional $6 for a take-home entrée.
Entree options include five-cheese ziti, spaghetti with meat sauce and fettuccine Alfredo.
