A shopper recently turned to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to complain about Kroger’s digital coupon policy.

Similar to the paper coupons used in stores, the popular grocery store offers online coupons for shoppers to use and get discounts on various items.

“Digital coupons are like paper coupons, only easier!” Kroger claims on your website.

“They are loaded directly onto your shopping card and you automatically redeem them when you purchase eligible items.”

While the process may seem simple, the frustrated shopper said it is actually very “difficult” to redeem the coupons.

“Well @kroger I don’t know why you make it so hard to use your digital coupons,” said the shopper he wrote in the post.

“The store staff was wonderful. It’s the stupid policies you’ve put in place that have made it so difficult.

They added: “I’m not a big customer, but now I’ll never be a customer again.”

Kroger quickly responded to the shopper, apologizing for the difficulties.

“Hi! We’re sorry to hear that you’re not enjoying the digital coupon program and that it takes some work to find and get lower prices,” the company said. he responded in a post to X.

The coupons can be downloaded to your account directly from the Kroger website and can be used in-store and online.

Once shoppers find the discount they want, it will be loaded into their account by selecting the “Load to Cart” button located on the coupon.

Approximately 150 coupons can be loaded into an account at a time, according to the supermarket’s website.

If you are shopping in-store, these coupons can be used by scanning your shopper card or entering your alternate ID at checkout.

Which coupons are denied?

Kroger has a number of rules about which digital and paper coupons can be accepted at checkout. Here are the types of denied-use coupons:

  • Expired coupons
  • Coupons presented in an app or mobile device
  • Coupons not obtainable on the Kroger website or app
  • Copied, blurred, altered or disproportionate coupons
  • Coupons that have already been redeemed more than three times in one day

Kroger said these discounts will be automatically applied to purchases.

They may also be rejected by store employees.

Kroger he said that employees will not accept coupons that are expired, presented on an app or mobile device, copied, blurred, or altered.
