SELECT AT&T customers will see monthly price increases soon.

The increase in costs will affect those contracting specific telephone plans from the telecommunications company.

Those with older unlimited wireless plans will see their monthly charges increase by $10 to $20, according to a Press release from AT&T in early June.

The increases will begin in August this year and will affect at least 10 “retired” unlimited plans, according to the company.

AT&T also confirmed that customers who have multiple lines tied to the retired plans will see a maximum increase of $20.

“If you have a single line of service on your plan, your monthly plan charge will increase by $10,” the statement noted.

“If you have multiple lines on your plan, your monthly plan charge will increase by a total of $20.”

“This is the total monthly increase, not the per-line increase,” AT&T emphasized.

A multitude of unlimited plans have been offered by AT&T for several years, with different charges, perks and fees.

The advantage of unlimited plans allows customers to get as much data, talk and text as they want, but the disadvantage is that this can be slowed down if they reach a high-speed data limit.

SWEET INCENTIVE

To ease the sting of the price increase announcement, AT&T promised to offer more high-speed and even hotspot data to affected customers still using retired unlimited plans.

The bumps ranged from up to 100GB of high-speed data for some plans and 60GB of hotspot data.

“AT&T Unlimited Choice, Choice II, Choice Enhanced, Unlimited & More, and Unlimited Value plans will now include 75GB of high-speed data and 30GB of hotspot data,” the company noted.

“AT&T Unlimited Plus, Plus Enhanced, Unlimited & More Premium, and AT&T Unlimited (with TV) plans will now include 100GB of high-speed data and 60GB of hotspot data.”

It appears the price increase may entice customers to upgrade and switch to one of AT&T’s current unlimited plans.

They are listed as AT&T Unlimited Starter SL, Unlimited Extra EL, and Unlimited Premium PL.

AT&T Price Increases

There are at least 10 unlimited plans on AT&T with price increases in August. Those with single lines will see an additional $10 monthly charge, while those with multiple lines will see a $20 increase. The US Sun has compiled a list below of the affected plans:

Plan prices range from $35.99 to $50.99 per month for a single line.

NOT ALONE

AT&T isn’t the only wireless carrier to make price increases recently.

T-Mobile began monthly cost increases of $5 per line on June 5 for customers with certain plans.

It’s the company’s first increase in years and, like AT&T, only those with older plans were affected, so CNET.

AT&T recently launched “hyperfast speed” Internet plans for sale to customers.

T-Mobile also announced the acquisition of US Cellular for $4.4 billion in May, which shook the industry.
