APPLICATIONS have been opened to receive $120 per child to help with grocery bills.
The money comes to help families during the summer holidays.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has launched a program to help parents feed their children during the summer holidays.
Sun Bucks promises an extra $120 per child to any eligible family with school-age children.
Families already receiving food stamp benefits, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or Indian Reservation Food Distribution Program, will automatically be enrolled in the Sun Bucks program.
Students who attend a school that offers the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast may also qualify for the food cash program as long as their family income is eligible for free or reduced school lunch.
Those who are not automatically included in the program can still apply directly to the program as long as they are eligible.
If you need to register, you will be asked to provide information such as your child’s name, school, date of birth and home address.
You will also be asked to provide your household income.
However, you do not need to be a US citizen to sign up and qualify for Sun Bucks.
A total of 56 states, territories and tribes participate.
HOW TO USE SUN BUCKS
Many grocery stores, farmers markets, convenience stores and online retailers accept Sun Bucks.
Often these are the same places that accept SNAP benefits.
Sun Bucks can be used to pay for the following:
- fruits and vegetables
- meat, poultry and fish
- dairy products
- breads and cereals
- snacks and non-alcoholic drinks

However, certain grocery items cannot be purchased with Sun Bucks, including:
- hot foods
- pet food
- cleaning or household products
- personal hygiene items
- medicine
The deadline to sign up for the Sun Bucks is July 1st.
However, this program is not the only chance Americans have to earn free money.
Chicken companies are paying after a price fixing process.
And millions can qualify for up to $10,000 in cash to improve their homes.
