A WALMART shopper has criticized the retailer after it decided to close early for no apparent reason.
The customer claimed she was shocked when she was turned away at the door by police.

“@Walmart Walmart in Charlotte NC SUCKS!!” a user shared on X, (formerly known as Twitter).
The shopper shared that he drove to the Walmart store in North Tryon, North Carolina and even checked online to see what time it closed.
She thought she arrived in time, but when the customer arrived, the police refused to let her in.
“The North Tryon location wasn’t supposed to close until 11pm as listed on their website, but I tried to go there at 10:10am and the cops at the front door told me ‘they were closed.’
“Why the hell are you closing 50 minutes EARLY???”
‘SHOULD WE SUFFER?’
Walmart’s opening hours have been a controversial topic for years.
The retailer typically opens from 6am to 11pm on weekdays.
However, many people demanded that Walmart return to 24-hour locations on social media.
“It’s time to bring back Walmart 24 hours so I can shop at 3am in peace,” one shopper posted on Facebook.
Other commenters agree with the poster.
“Okay! How long must we suffer? All night, Walmart!!” one person wrote.
“Yes, it was helpful,” another person added.
“I loved going before my 7am shift,” commented a third person.
The retailer changed its opening hours across the country in 2020 for public safety reasons.
Walmart stores closed in 2024
So far, Walmart has closed the following stores in 2024:
- San Diego, California – February 9
- El Cajon, California – February 9
- Columbus, Ohio – February 16
- West Covina, California – March 29
- Towson, Maryland – April 5
- Granite Bay, California – April 12
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin – May 19
- Fremont, California – May 24
- Aurora, Colorado – June 7
Many customers assumed the change would be temporary, but Walmart never returned to 24-hour hours.
The retailer officially dashed shoppers’ hopes last year when a shopper on X asked about the company’s return to the 24-hour layout.
The retailer responded, revealing that it plans to adhere to limited hours.
“We have no plans to return to 24-hour service, but you can shop online at any time,” a spokesperson responded to the customer.
Walmart revealed that a lack of labor, maintaining supply and the lack of need for the store to stay open all night led to the decision, according to Best stocks,.
