SOME Americans have just hours to claim a one-time distribution from a recent settlement.
The direct payment opportunity comes after a class action lawsuit was filed against Milwaukee Tool.
Milwaukee Tool was accused in a suit of selling a certain line of products with “inaccurate expiration dates”.
The company allegedly failed to assign the correct expiration dates to its bonded abrasive wheels or detail the potential dangers of using the product after its expiration, according to the plaintiffs.
Milwaukee Tool did not admit any wrongdoing in the case and instead agreed to a $1.25 million settlement to resolve the claims and avoid further legal costs.
It also agreed to adjust its packaging in the future with clear and precise expiration dates, along with statements about the use of products after expiration.

Those who qualify to receive money from the settlement fund should act quickly and file a complaint form on the sale website to take advantage before time runs out.
Currently, the filing deadline is July 2, 2024.
The same date is set for the exclusion and objection period.
There are only two crucial criteria that applicants must meet to receive a payment.
ELIGIBILITY
First, they must have specifically purchased the bonded abrasive wheels.
Bonded abrasive wheels must also have been purchased between January 1, 2017 and April 18, 2024.
Eligible applicants will also receive money based on the number of bonded abrasive discs they purchased.
No proof of purchase is required, but having it can result in more money from the settlement pot.
PAYMENT
Those who do not have proof of purchase when making a claim can claim eight units of bonded abrasive discs for $2.50 each.
This means they could receive a payment of up to $20 in the settlement.
What is a class action settlement?

Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or “classes,” a way to come together in court.
These lawsuits are often filed by one or a few people who allege that a company or other entity has harmed a large group of people.
When a lawsuit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar claims to those who filed the lawsuit.
Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue legal action by accepting money.
These payment agreements often include statements from the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.
Pollution, discrimination or false advertising are some examples of what can lead to a class action lawsuit at a company’s door.
Those who have proof of purchase of bonded abrasive discs can claim an unlimited number of units.
The maximum payment for voucher applicants is set at $100.
It’s unclear when eligible Americans can expect payments from Milwaukee Tool.
The final hearing in the case is scheduled for August 16, 2024, so they will likely leave soon after if the deal is approved.
There are at least two other looming settlement deadlines you should be aware of.
An extension has been granted to iPhone users who want to receive a $349 payment from a recent settlement, no proof required.
There are also hours left for eligible Americans to file a claim for a one-time distribution at a chicken settlement.
