The retailer, known for its discounts on outdoor apparel and footwear that rival Dick’s Sporting Goods, announced the mass closures on Monday.

On a Press releasethe company said it would close all Bob’s Stores stores and liquidate all of its inventory.

The move is part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring petition, filed on June 18.

Bob’s Stores, owned by GoDigital Media Group, had previously closed several locations in an attempt to make “rapid and aggressive changes” to the company’s structure.

However, the company said it was “unable to secure the necessary financial resources to maintain operations.”

As a result, it is closing all locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island.

The going-out-of-business sales began on June 28 and are expected to last two weeks.

The company said the last day of operations will be July 14.

Any gift cards customers may receive from the retailer will still be honored until that date.

Until then, shoppers will be able to find deep discounts of between 30-70% depending on location.

Sales are being applied to all products, including footwear, workwear, teamwear and other apparel.

In some stores, furniture, fixtures and even store equipment will be available for purchase.

Shoppers are being encouraged to visit local Bob’s Stores to take advantage of clearance sales, as best-selling items are expected to sell out quickly.

All sales are final and no returns will be accepted for items purchased during going-out-of-business sales.

  • Outback Steakhouse: The chain will close 41 “underperforming” locations this year.
  • Two dolars: Four restaurants in Ohio closed in April.
  • Pepper: A restaurant in Port Arthur, Texas, has closed permanently, as has another in Irvine, California.
  • Friendly: Bosses have confirmed that an establishment in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, will close.
  • Pizza Hut: A restaurant in Glen Falls, New York, closed in late March, followed by four in Ohio in June and 15 in Indiana.

Dave Barton, president of Bob’s Stores, said the company is grateful for the support it has received over the years.

“We regret that our financial situation has required the liquidation of Bob’s Stores,” Barton said in a statement.

“Bob’s has been a champion of our local communities for almost 70 years and we know that our customers remember us as having been there at important moments in their lives.

“We remain grateful to our vendors, suppliers, customers and employees for all of their support over the years.”

Bob’s Stores did not immediately respond to US Sun’s request for comment.

ICE AGE RETAIL

The continued store closings of Bob’s Stores, as well as other major retailers such as Eastern Mountain Sports, were considered evidence of a larger problem.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, major retailers have been hit by a drought in in-person shopping and rising inflation.

This caused many stores, restaurants and other businesses to close their doors.

“Bob’s and EMS know how to run good, profitable, productive stores that offer great merchandise at great value,” said Burt Flickinger III, managing director of Manhattan-based retail and consumer goods consulting firm Strategic Resource Group. CT Insider.

“But they are facing a growing retail ice age.”
