FANS of fried chicken who don’t live in the South will be pleased to know that a popular fast food chain is moving west.
Known for its fried chicken and biscuits, Bojangles is officially coming to Los Angeles County with plans to expand across the state over the next six years.
The Charlotte, North Carolina-born national fast food chain has announced plans to open in Los Angeles County, according to a press release, local CW affiliate reports KTLA.
A total of 30 restaurants are scheduled to open in Los Angeles over the next six years, with the company’s first location expected in 2025.
Expansion efforts were made in agreement with Lorenzo Boucetta and Poulet Brothers, LLC.
Boucetta has been committed to restoring high-end historic properties since moving to Los Angeles in 2009, according to Bojangles, reported Axes.
“From the moment I was introduced to Bojangles, I immediately knew this was a brand I wanted to be a part of,” Broucetta said in a statement, according to KTLA.
“The delicious chicken, biscuits and breakfast, combined with the strong unit economics and unparalleled support, made the decision a no-brainer for me.”
Bojangles also confirmed that other franchise opportunities available with hints of expanding beyond LA County as well.
“We are ecstatic to bring Bojangles to Los Angeles residents and look forward to opening our first California location next year as we anticipate the exciting growth that will follow,” said Bojangles CEO José Armario, KTLA reported.
The company opened its first burger restaurant in Charlotte in 1977.
Now with more than 800 restaurants in 17 states across the country, according to local ABC affiliate KXTVthe restaurant is ready to take its first steps in the West.
BOJANGLES GOODNESS
This isn’t the only big news from Bojangles in recent years.
Purchased in 2019 by Jordan Company and Durational Capital Management, Bojangles is known for its Cajun-seasoned fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits, according to Axios.
The brand announced plans to open 270 new restaurants this year, according to Axios.
It also has plans for expansion in Phoenix, with 20 new locations coming soon.
The company has not said when the first Valley restaurant will open, according to Axios.
This comes after Bojangles welcomes 40 new locations in 2023.
The company invaded new markets, according to North Carolina Businessincluding Dallas, Columbus and Orlando.
But there was not always success all the time.
Bojangles has closed eight restaurants in Orlando, according to The Observer Charlotte because the Florida market did not fit into the company’s growth plan.
