Walmart shoppers brand ‘stupid new strollers’ as ‘annoyingly loud’ – and parents claim it’s no longer ‘safe’ for kids

A SHOPPER has criticized the retailer for changing its shopping carts, making the shopping experience more difficult for parents.

She said new grocery carts have ruined the in-person shopping experience.

The Walmart shopper was excited to take her son on a trip to the grocery store until she noticed the retailer’s new shopping carts had drastically changed.

“I was really excited, thinking he would love being able to move more freely and observe better… BUT Wal-Mart had to ruin everything with their stupid new strollers,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

New strollers no longer fit in the stroller cover – a soft cushion for babies sitting in the front basket of shopping carts.

She also said the strollers were “annoyingly loud” and there was no way to protect her son.

Her post gained sympathy from other parents who faced similar issues with Walmart’s new shopping carts.

“I do curbside pickup now because they switch carts,” said another user.

The shopper later wrote that Aldi’s shopping carts are less cumbersome and can better accommodate infant car seats.

BIG CHANGES

Walmart debuted its new shopping carts last year in select stores.

The retailer announced the change in a Facebook postencouraging buyers to take a “test drive”.

“They are equipped with a phone holder, cup holders and are slightly taller for a more comfortable shopping experience,” the post said.

“Come take a test drive today. Only found locally at the Mayfield Walmart.”

Since then, Walmart shoppers have been divided over the so-called improvements.

Some buyers said they liked the new features, especially the phone holder.

However, others still said that the height of shopping carts poses a problem for shorter shoppers and children.

Walmart’s Scan and Go system was created to help customers scan items as they shop, pay and check out, without waiting in long checkout lines.

The retailer outlines the new system to be implemented in a few easy steps:

• Customers first need to download the Walmart app on their phone with location access enabled.
• On the Store Mode home page, buyers must click on the Scan and Go option.
• Customers can scan each item and place them in their carts as they shop.
• At the end, they will be asked to view their cart to ensure the quantity in the app matches those in their carts.
• Shoppers will press “Check Out” and head to a self-checkout kiosk.
• They will be asked to scan the QR code provided at the cash register and confirm their payment method.
• Once the transaction is complete, shoppers can leave the store without any worries.

Grocery carts aren’t the only change Walmart is making.

Following a notable rise in crime, the retailer implemented several new anti-theft measures.

The new policies have prompted an increase in the number of security guards, a limit on self-checkout items and random receipt checks.

Customers say they feel personally attacked when they are stopped at the door and asked for their receipt.

Many buyers said they are thinking about closing their wallets and buying elsewhere.
