FACEBOOK users are calling out Trader Joe’s for selling a scented candle after a customer said the product “completely caught fire.”

Trader Joe’s recently issued a product recall for its $3.99 Mango and Tangerine Scented Candle.

The candle “may have an unexpected burning pattern,” the retailer said on its website.

“The candle flame can spread from the wick into the wax, causing a larger flame than expected, posing a safety risk,” said Trader Joe’s.

Trader Joe’s even warned shoppers against using the candle if they already purchased it.

“We ask that you discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund,” the retailer said.

But the warning came too late for some.

If you have any questions, call Trader Joe’s Customer Service at (626) 599-3817 or send them an email.

The US Sun has reached out to Trader Joe’s for comment.

‘BUY IT’ NOW

Some users shared their experience on a private FB group page dedicated to Trader Joe’s products.

“Just a PSA: I recently purchased a Mango Tangerine candle that completely caught fire after I lit it,” said an anonymous Facebook user.

“I went in today and told the manager and he said they removed everyone. A lot of people complained, even some employees”, added the user.

Another user responded: “Shoot! I bought one and loved the scent!”

‘Dry’ and ‘artificial,’ say Trader Joe’s fans as viral dessert item divides shoppers and one staff member says ‘you’re wrong’

“I turned it on the other day for a few hours, I guess I should be thankful nothing happened,” the user added.

THIS IS WHAT YOU GET

Love Night Candlesa small company based in Kentucky, chimed in in a separate post, saying this is “a perfect example of getting what you pay for.”

He said small companies like her are “very careful” about testing and retesting their products.

They do this, Love Night Candles said, because customer safety and product quality are their top priorities.

“A lot of these big candles sit in warehouses for long periods of time, sometimes they start to melt,” he added.

“This can cause the fragrance oils to rise, thereby increasing the risk of fire,” he added.

The US Sun wrote about other products that Trader Joe’s has recalled for one reason or another.

One buyer even called for a boycott.

For some, it has evolved into a “love/hate relationship”.
