CERTAIN Costco customers may have a chance to receive a one-time payment worth more than $50.
The wholesaler was accused of false advertising in the sale of its Kirkland Signature disposable baby wipes.
Costco has not admitted any wrongdoing in this lawsuit, but has agreed to settle these claims with a $2 million pot, according to Superior Class Shares.
This lawsuit alleged that these wipes were advertised as flushable, but allegedly were not.
This plaintiff alleged that the discharge of this product damaged his pipes, sewer, and other plumbing fixtures.
The suit added that these buyers said they would not have purchased the wipes if they had known the potential outcome.
Only certain buyers of this product are eligible to claim their share of the money.
Customers who purchased these wipes between July 1, 2011 and May 31, 2017 will be able to benefit from this.
These customers must file their claims before August 9, 2024.
This can be done through an online form on the settlement website website.
PAYMENT
Not all eligible customers will receive the same amount of money from the payment scheme.
The terms of the agreement stipulated that each person could receive $1.30 for each package of wipes purchased during that period.
Each class member will be entitled to a minimum payment of $7.50.
Members could claim up to 43 packages and this would make the maximum payout $55.90.
IMPORTANT DATES
Although the last day to file has been set for August 9, there are two other dates that customers should note.
The final date for approval of this agreement is set for August 30th.
