A NEW Lego set paying homage to a blockbuster has been revealed just in time for summer, but the promotional video has left some fans terrified.

In 1975, moviegoers everywhere were too scared to go into the water after Jaws hit theaters, and now dedicated fans can build the iconic boat that helped bring down the wayward shark.

The 1,497-piece set comes with minifigures of Martin Brody, Matt Hooper and Sam Quint – the characters played by Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw, respectively.

The Orca boat has a detailed cabin and removable roof with various accessories such as a revolver, fishing rod, compass, harpoon, spear and yellow barrels.

Lastly, the infamous shark that wreaked havoc on Friendship Island is also included in the set.

Fans can display the set as a diorama on a brick-built seawater base, with the shark attacking the boat.

Along with the display is the famous line from the film: “You’re going to need a bigger boat.”

However, fans can abandon the base and place the shark on its own stand.

The set comes from the Lego Ideas platform, which allows fans around the world to submit ideas and prototypes to become official sets based on fan voting and internal review.

Johnny Campbell, an Irish Jaws fan, submitted designs for a set based on the film twice, with the second proving popular with fans and eventually being voted to become an official set.

“Lego building has always been a part of my life in some way, but to get all the finer details, I froze Jaws while watching it so I could get a glimpse of the finer details, taking notes as I went,” he said. The Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s just mind-blowing that my design is now an official Lego set. I can’t wait to walk into a Lego store looking at the shelves and see a set I’ve been involved with and see someone buying it.”

From Lego lover to millionaire: Shane’s incredible journey

Photos of the set were leaked online days before its official opening, which didn’t dampen fans’ excitement.

To prepare fans, Lego created a 90-second retelling of the film called JAWS…in an instant.

This is the first time the company has done something like this when announcing a set.

At the time of writing this article, the video had 125,550 views, but comments have been disabled.

That hasn’t stopped fans from sharing their reactions on social media.

“I want to watch this entire two hour movie,” wrote one person on X, formerly known as Twitter.
