Costco is involved in a class-action lawsuit filed by customers who purchased Kirkland’s signature wet wipes.

The company claimed that the wipes were flushable; however, the plaintiffs alleged that despite the company’s claim, the wipes backed up some customers’ bathrooms, which Top Class Action Lawt reported.

Costco admitted no wrongdoing but agreed to a $2 million settlement.

The plaintiffs involved in the lawsuit alleged that the supposedly flushable wipes damaged their pipes, sewer and other plumbing fixtures.

The buyers in the lawsuit claimed they would not have purchased the wipes if they had known of the possible outcome.

Customers who purchased Kirkland Signature disposable wipes between July 1, 2011 and May 31, 2017 have until August 9 to claim their settlement money.

Under the agreement, members can receive $1.30 per product purchased.

The amount a member will receive depends on how many products they purchase between the dates above.

Costco will award a minimum payment of $7.50 to all class action members.

However, members can claim up to 43 products, resulting in a maximum payout of $55.90.

While the last day to file a claim is August 9th, buyers should note that the final settlement approval date is August 30th.

To receive the deal, customers must have purchased Kirkland wipes in New York State and be citizens of the United States.

Costco members do not need to submit a claim as the wholesaler will identify Settlement Class members, determine the number of products purchased, and issue a check for the appropriate amount using the mailing address on file in accordance with the Costco Colonist Wet Wipest.

Non-Costco members can fill out this way to register a complaint.

How to file a complaint

To receive a settlement payment, you must be a member of the Settlement Class.

To be a member, you must:

  • Have purchased the product between July 1, 2011 and May 31, 2017
  • Be a consumer, not a commercial entity
  • To live in the USA
  • Purchased one or more products in New York State

To file a complaint:

  • You don’t need to be a Costco member
  • You must fill this way

If you are a Costco member, you do not need to submit a claim.

Costco will identify Settlement Class Members to determine the number of products that were purchased and will issue a check for the appropriate amount using the mailing address on file.

This isn’t the only lawsuit Costco has been involved in recently.

Shoppers have banded together to sue the retailer for misleading customers with its online prices.

The class action lawsuit alleged that the club broke its promise to members by failing to disclose price margins for products sold on its website.

More expensive products online should say, “Item may be available at your local warehouse for a lower price and not delivered.”

However, the plaintiffs alleged that the superstore failed to disclose this information.

The class action lawsuit said damages exceed $5 million and members are seeking monetary damages.
