A COSTCO buyer said his food was thrown away by a salesperson because of a misunderstanding that could easily have been discussed.

The buyer expressed his frustration in X, describing the “horrible experience” he had at the membership warehouse club.

While at the counter, he noticed that the membership card he was using did not have his name on it.

Instead, it was named after his wife.

“You would think I was stealing the food, the associate started throwing my food into the perishable carts, not giving me time to call my wife (who could have come over to meet me) and help fix it,” he added.

To make matters worse, her two children were left “shaking” after seeing what happened.

He said he would never go to Costco again, calling it “disgusting” in the social media post.

The man tried to call the company and complain, but they hung up on him.

He asked Costco associates to remember that shoppers are the ones who pay their wages.

The US Sun has reached out to Costco for comment.

MEMBER RULES

Only Costco members can purchase items, per the retailer’s general policies on its website.

“You will be required to present your membership card when entering any Costco warehouse and when checking out at a cash register,” according to its website.

NO SHARING

Costco has been cracking down on unauthorized member sharing since last year.

Former Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti said he noticed that non-members have been escaping the ATM by using someone else’s membership card.

“We don’t think it’s right for non-members to receive the same benefits and prices as our members.”

This comes at a time when other subscription-based services like Netflix are also cracking down on subscription sharing.

The US Sun also wrote about other customer experiences when shopping at Costco.

Some buyers welcomed the restriction on member sharing, although others found it attractive.

For one, one buyer complained about having to pay the full price even though his one-year subscription was reduced to 10 months.
